Biggleswade 400/132kV Substation (Design Verification And Technical Support)

Project Scope
To design, supply, construct, install and commission the new 400kV Biggleswade substation to enable the demand connection of 80MW to supply UKPN. The project scope includes, but is not limited to, the design, supply, construction, and commissioning of:
- Undertake a comprehensive review of all design (HV electrical, protection, civil and structural) to ensure the design complies with the relevant standards
- A new 400kV single switch mesh substation
- Two 400/132kV 240MVA super grid transformers
- Connection of the new substation to the 4VK overhead line route between Eaton Socon and Wymondley
- Cable connection of the new Biggleswade 400kV substation to a new 132kV substation to be constructed by UKPN
- New bays for the cable connections in the UKPN 132kV substation. The connection point will be the clamps on the 132kV busbars
- Modular buildings will be installed as Amenities block, Portable relay rooms, Telecom Room, LVAC, Battery Room, SCS/Permit Room.

UKPE is engaged to provide the following roles to comply with NG SR188 and 141 compliance:
- Lead Contractor Design Approval Engineer
- Substation HV Contractor Design Approval Engineer
- Commissioning Officer
